Tandoori Flavour
Directions: Go
west on College, turn right on Spadina. It's almost immediately to your
right.
Review: Indian
Food. Don't let the sign fool you; it's not from a real tandoor.
Portions are small, but it is VERY close to campus. It's only about a
minute away from both the New College and the ISC Prayer rooms
Average Meal Cost:
$5.00 (includes drink).

only because it's close to campus]
Something to Talk
About
78 Gerrard St. West
Directions: Go
south on University Ave. Turn left on Gerard (it's the street that
separates TGH from Sick Kids). Just before Elizabeth St, you'll see the
restaurant on the left side of Gerard. Dont be confused: It looks like
a yellow painted house, but there’s a sign outside telling you it's a
restaurant.
Review:
Friendly service, small eating area, close to campus, excellent
Cheese-steak. Good for take-out burgers, hot dogs, and cheese steaks.
Average Meal Cost:
$4.50 (drink extra)

Eat-a-Pita
6-B Cumberland Ave..
416-920-8125
WARNING: The
owner of this establishment is NOT a Muslim. Eat at your own
discretion.
Directions:
Go east on Bloor. Turn left on Bay, and then right on Cumberland. The
restaurant is on the left side of the street, across from Cumberland
Terrace.
Review:
The quality has changed corresponding to changes in ownership. The
latest owner seems to have brought Eat-a-Pita back to its usual “amazing
food” status. If you go in the morning, you can get an excellent
breakfast, including a really good omelette. In the afternoons, there
isn't much variety (you're limited to Chicken Shawarma or Falafel) but
this is by far the best value you'll get for you money. Their Shawarma
plate includes a drink, and at $4.95 it's probably the best value in the
city! The owner is a very humble and honest man, and always charges
less than what the sign says.
Average Meal Cost:
$5.00 for their Chicken Shawarma plate. (drink extra).

Coconut Grove
Dundas St. W.
Directions:
Take University Ave. South. Turn Left (east) on Dundas. The restaurant
is on your right side, just past Bay St.
Review:
Caribbean and West Indian Food. Not too much variety, but they do have
good goat and chicken curry. The staff is friendly, and there is
sufficient eating space for a large gathering. You won’t find any
kebabs or grilled chicken here. West Indian food is an acquired taste.
The portions are very large, and come with your choice of side items.
Average Meal Cost:
$6.00 (includes drink)

Directions:
Go West on Bloor. Pass Spadina, and pass the Kinkos. Soon, you’ll pass

Review:
Standard fare Arabic food. Good Chicken Shawarma. Servings aren’t
huge, but you will get a decent variet – e.g. Hummous, Tabouleh, meat,
rice, etc. Seating area isn’t too large, but you can fit 15 people
there comfortably. Best dishes include Chicken Shawarma, Arabic Coffee
(really bitter – ah, the real stuff!), and of course, the Baklava.
Average Meal Cost:
$6.50

There is also a
halaal Lebanese restaurant in the College Park Food Court. If
you go there, you'll definitely see it.
-
Also, there is also
The Host Restaurant just west of Avenue Rd. on Prince Arthur
(across from Yorkville).
Panzerotto's Pizza
North Building cafeteria
Review: Hey, it's pizza. But it's
also halaal.
