In a time where literature about Islam is relatively easy to locate, one finds the range is typically limited to material that promotes an orientalist version of Islam, or does not reflect the true diversity of the Muslim Ummah.  As part of TMA's commitment to providing the Muslim Ummah with access to a wide collection of education resources that illuminate the truth and beauty of Islam, TMA has made the following books and booklets available to the general public.

This simple and easy-to-read book provides an explanation, including detailed proofs, for the existence of God, including an exposition into His various fundamental and ancillary characteristics.  This is an excellent introductory text for non-Muslims and those who believe God cannot exist, or that if He does, that He has become irrelevant.

 

Nahjul Balagha (the Peak of Eloquence)

Compiled by Sharif ar-Radi during the 4th Islamic Century, this book is a collection of the sermons, sayings, letters, and aphorisms of the fourth caliph of Islam, and the first Imam of the Muslims, Hazrat 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (as).  The book provides a deep insight into the Imam's personality, character, and love for Allah.  Perhaps the best feature of the book is its applicability to the modern age, where prince and pauper alike can benefit from the wisdom of the greatest sage to walk the earth.

 

Inquiries About Islam

by Muhammad Jawad Chirri

Chronicled as an interview between Chirri and a western journalist, Chirri clarifies the Islamic belief system to those who may be unfamiliar with it, including in-depth arguments for the existence of God, the purpose of creation, where Islam and Christianity differ concerning Jesus Christ, the Islamic concept of Human Rights, and the need for and the finality of the Prophethood of Muhammad (saw).  The author concludes with a call for Muslim unity.

 

The Bible, the Qur'an, and Science

by Maurice Bucaille

This book, written decades ago, instantly became a classic.  Maurice Bucaille, a biology professor at Le Sorbonne, analytically compared the Qur'an and the Bible on various scientific issues, and published the results of his study in the form of this book.  This title is a must read for anyone who thinks science and religion are incompatible, or that the Qur'an is not a true miracle of Allah (swt).

 

Towards Understanding Islam

by Abu'l 'Ala Mawdudi

Written by the late founder of the Jamaati Islami in Pakistan, this book is written in clear and concise English prose and discusses various issues concerning the Islamic belief system, including a rational explanation of the pillars of the Islamic faith.

 

Muhammad -- Man of Allah

Sayyed Nasr, one of the western world's most prolific Muslim scholars, provides a unique summary of the life of Muhammad (saw), Prophet of Islam, including his birth, life in Makkah, migration to Medina, and his various achievements in the Arabian peninsula.  The book also offers a unique insight into the spirituality of the world's greatest and most perfect human being (saw).

 

The Qur'an in Islam

In this book, which is written by perhaps the greatest Muslim scholar of the 20th century, is a basic summary of the role of the Qur'an in Islam and its impact upon the life of billions of Muslims throughout history.  Allamah Tabataba'i (ra)'s approach is that of the Ahlul Bayt (ams) -- to use the Qur'an to elucidate itself.  He also discusses some important aspects of the Qur'an, including its stylistic nuances, its historical and scientific accuracy, and its relation vis-a-vis other religious texts.  Included is also a survey of fundamental tafseer (commentative) techniques used to derive at the deeper meanings of the text.

This book, an instant classic, was written by a famous Sufi scholar of the Maghrib.  Tijani chronicles his travels to Iraq and his visit to the mausoleum of Imam Musa al-Kadhim, the 7th Imam of the Shi'ites -- a visit that led him on a thorough search to discover the truth about the path of those who follow the Ahlul Bayt (ams).
